Well folks it’s 2 days after my 33rd birthday. My boyfriend and I had a nice quiet day on my birthday. We then enjoyed one of my favorite mexican restaurants in the Oakland County area, Miguels Cantina in Rochester. Followed up the day with WONDERFUL carrot cake from Papa Joe’s Market. I’m making BIG plans for my 33rd year.

I know this link is being shared quite a bit…but it deserves to be shared even more. No matter what side of the arguement you’re on when it comes to gay marriage, his speach is about more…his passion is about more. I cannot imagine getting up in front of that many and speaking so well and so clearly on any topic.

I personally have no problem with gay marriage, and those who do should remember that until 1967 interracial couples weren’t given the full rights of marriage in the US. Interracial couples were once in the shoes of gays. I know for many it comes down to an fight about religion and what the bible says about gay marriage, thats fine, but please show me you live your life entirely by the bible before you pass judgement on people who may not. It’s likely that you don’t, but it’s up to God to judge you for that not me. I believe you can love anyone, and loving someone and wanting to be their partner in life doesn’t necessarily . Love is love.

My Grandparents Remembered

12 and 10 years ago I (and my family) endured two biggest heartaches…the loss of our Grandfather and Grandmother. Herbert C Cooley, Sr left us in January 1999 and two years later my grandmother Genevieve M Cooley went to join him in October 2001. Most of the people who would ever read this already know that had it not been for my grandparents I have no idea what type of life I’d be living now. I moved in with them when I entered middle school and stayed with them until the end. This afforded me many opportunities for a better school district, more stability, and the chance to be someone different then if I had stayed in Pontiac.

The hurt, pain, regret, anger and love still sit with me each day. These are two deaths that I don’t think I will ever overcome. There is not one day that my grandparents aren’t thought about. My heart still aches from their loss. There are so many things I didn’t get to share with them, things that I wish they could have been here for both now and in my future. I was so very blessed to have these two wonderful individuals in my life for as long as I did, and can only hope that they felt the same about me.

My grandfather was such an awe inspiring person. His love and support could not be rivaled by anyone. He was larger than life to me when I was younger and still is to this day. I know there are things from my youth that were disappointing to him, but all he ever did was try like hell to guide us to the right path and pick us up with open arms when we stumbled along the way. His hard work and dedication to his family is something that I still feel today.

My grandmother was a spitfire. You always knew where you stood with her and she definitely wasn’t one to tiptoe around something. I know that this is exactly where this comes from in me. She had a way about her, always put together, but not in that “I tried and you can tell” way. She was one of my favorite people to spend time with. How many teenagers want to spend time with their grandparents? I sure did. I loved sitting with her and watching movies. We both liked to shop. And she taught me how wonderful a lunch in the old Hudson’s restaurant was. She also taught me about cherishing what is important. And that things are just that, things. I always feel she was slightly misunderstood by many (much like myself).

When my grandma was sick and in the hospital one of the greatest tragedies that the US has endured happened, the terrorist attacks in September 2001. They say everyone who could remember will always remember where they were when they first heard about the attacks…I was at my desk at work. My grandma was in a coma then. I remember going to her hospital bed and talking to her about everything that was going on and asking her to please wake up after this tragedy had ended so that she wouldn’t have the memories of it. She had already lived through so much, I didn’t think she needed this memory also. Unfortunately for us she never woke up and died a couple of weeks later.

I try to remember only the great times with my grandparents. Our family trips in the camper driving out to California to see my dad, with my 2 cousins and I squeezed in together in the upper “bunk”. My grandpa trying to teach me to waterski. My grandma making sure a good meal was homemade most nights. Going down to the Eastern Market area with them around Christmas to pick up our fresh duck for my grandma’s polish soup Czarnina (FYI that’s polish for Duck Blood Soup – eww is all I can say, lol). My grandpa teaching me to drive, and forgiving me when I wrecked his truck 5 months after getting my license. Summer rides in the pontoon boat on Lake Oakland. There were so many wonderful wonderful memories I could fill up millions of pages with them.

My point is my grandparents loved life, loved their family and most importantly loved each other. I hope to have the marriage that they had. So here is a photo tribute to the two most missed people in my life! I love you Pa & Gram, and I hope I you’re proud of who I am today!

I am the 99% that chose to live beyond my means. I am the 99% that chose to spend my money rather than save my money. I am the 99% that maxed out credit cards and helped to ruin the credit system we used to have. I am the 99% that didn’t pay enough taxes when things got tough and am now paying for that. I am the 99% that chose to believe my life and job would always be great. I am the 99% that felt entitled. I am the 99% that never realized a 10% pay cut was a possibility. I am the 99% that didn’t go vote. I am the 99% that didn’t listen when my family taught me about the value of money, insurance and security. I am the 99% that has had to choose when or if I can pay a bill. I am the 99% that has had to choose between food or rent.

I am the 1% that sucked up my pride, and at 29 gave up many of my possessions and moved back in with my parents. I am the 1% that then worked 70-80 hours a week in 2 jobs to try to make ends meet a little closer. I am the 1% that knows I was 99% of the problem. I am the 1% that grows increasingly tired of the blame game. I am the 1% that knows change starts at me. I am the 53% that wants the 47% to take whatever freaking job you can, contribute to society in a meaningful manner and stop wasting my time and your life.

Do I think that there needs to be changes absolutely, but this “movement” isn’t really the way it will get done!

Many many many of my family & friends are going through some extremely tough times right now. separations, divorces, deaths, job losses, home losses, you name my people seem to be knee deep in it. I just hope that everyone know’s I’m there for them in any way I can be. You all know how to reach me and I’m happy to listen anytime.

The only way we get through things is together!

Medical Issues Suck

So I’ve made a decision about this blog…it’s time to speak the truth regardless of what people might think of me..so here it goes.

FearlessGal hasn’t been having the best luck in the medical department these days. I’ve hit the wonderful age of 32, and my body (particularly my female parts) has decided to all the wrong things at the most in opportune times. I’ve been poked and prodded to many times to count over the last 5 months. I’m thankful that in the grand scheme of life my problems are miniscule to those of people with Cancer or the like…but these issues I’ve been dealing with are no less upsetting to me.

Since I was in my 20′s I’ve wanted to be a mom. I had it all planned out. There’s a great saying “if you want to make God laugh make a plan”…so true. My plan was married by 26-27, first baby within a year and 2 baby at 30 and then done. Well lets see…32, no husband, no babies…hmm…yep definitely didn’t go according to plan. Guess what when one of the two things that you’ve always wanted in your life is suddenly “possibly” taken away from you, it becomes the ONLY thing you really care about. I know many will think I’m crazy, irresponsible, stupid…what ever word you’d like to use, but the most important thing in my life right now is trying to become a mom. I know it’s not the 100% ideal time, but guess what it never is. That statement right there is the only time I will ever try and justify my actions on this subject. FearlessGuy and I will get married, but given the time constraints of my current medical debacle, the baby needs to be moved to the front burner. I just don’t want to miss the chance to even try.

So have what ever you opinion you’d like but wish me luck.

Cruise 2011

So back in February of this year we went on a cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Seas. This was my 2nd cruise and Fearlessguy’s first. We had such a great time. The weather was beautiful around 60 at night and 80 during the day. Nothing better then getting down to the Bahamas in the middle of some of the worst winter weather in Michigan. Enjoy these pics!

Fearlessgal’s camera was stolen

By chance I happened to leave my camera in my car one night…something I NEVER do. Well wouldn’t you know not only did I leave the camera in the car, my car lock on my key fob didn’t work and the car was unlocked all night. When I went to leave for work I noticed my car door was slightly open and when I looked inside the glovebox was open as well (which is where the camera was). This happened over a week ago and I’m still upset about the whole thing. This is the camera that FearlessGuy just bought Fearlessgal for Christmas…UGH! Luckly I held onto my old one and will revert back to it until I can stomach buying another new one.

2nd Annual Fearlessgal Camping Trip

So the time came over our long Michigan winter to start thinking about what to do this summer on the very limited time off that FearlessGuy gets off of work. We decided that we definitely wanted to go camping again and we opted to go back to Ludington State Park. We weren’t disappoineted. We chose to stay 1 extra night this year, and have said that next year we’ll be extending by 2 more days. We just love being outdoors for so long! Last year we were bessed with near perfect weather 70′s during the day 50-60′s at night…this year we weren’t so lucky…it was in the 60′s during the day most days and 40-50′s at night (we actually had to use the heater this year, last year we used a fan). Next year I think we’re going to head further north into the U.P.

New home and Home renovations – It’s a love, hate relationship!

In August my boyfriend bought a home and asked me to move in with him. I did not see this home at all prior to the day of closing. It’s a very cute house on the outside in a very cute neighborhood. However, inside it needs some definite updating, de-wallpapering, & de-pink/mauve/purple-ing. Almost every room in the house had at least some wallpaper, was pink/mauve/purple, were those colors plus wallpaper…etc. So on to renovations.
